Program Overview

This Current Concepts program delivers a comprehensive update on diagnosis, imaging, medical therapies, and surgical innovations for common and complex eye diseases. It features cutting-edge advances in refractive surgery, cataract and corneal treatments, glaucoma, retina, ocular surface disease, oculoplastics, nutrition, technology, aesthetics, AI, contact lens and systemic/ocular disease—presented by experts in both optometry and ophthalmology. Attendees will gain actionable strategies for integrating new technologies and therapies into practice, while fostering interprofessional collaboration.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this summit, participants will be able to:

    • Integrate prescribed medical, therapeutic, and surgical treatment options into everyday practice for conditions such as diabetes, AMD, uveitis, oculoplastics, retina and ocular oncology.

    • Assess use of pharmaceuticals in presbyopia, pediatrics, and perioperative surgical patients.

    • Evaluate and apply advanced soft and scleral contact lens materials, designs, and fitting strategies—including those for myopia management, presbyopia, astigmatism, and irregular corneas—to optimize outcomes across comprehensive and pediatric eye care.

    • Identify, diagnose, and manage contact lens–related complications using evidence-based clinical decision-making, while incorporating effective patient education, practice management approaches, and expanded opportunities for student and resident engagement in cornea and contact lens–focused programs.

    • Formulate current and advanced strategies for glaucoma, retina, anterior segment, refractive surgery, and corneal transplantation.

    • Discuss the latest medical techniques, therapies, and clinical trials in dry eye, refractive surgery, cornea, glaucoma, and retina.

    • Apply imaging advances, especially OCT angiography, in diagnosis and treatment planning.

    • Manage pediatric and neuro-ophthalmology conditions using updated evidence-based approaches.

    • Recognize unique surgical considerations for cataract patients seeking premium IOLs or with comorbid conditions.
